The Story of Charis

Charis Realty Group was launched in summer of 2013 out of a deep need.  Broker/Owner Christy Issler was disheartened by the brokerage choices in the marketplace.  Having operated from eight of them in her real estate career it became apparent it was time to hang her own shingle out as none were offering the passionate, collaborative, and high-tech environment she was searching for.

Over the next 11 years what happened has been nothing short of sensational.  You see, Charis was created to be a place where a few like-minded Realtors might gather and work together, but the growth Charis has seen has been astounding.  Real estate is an industry that by its very nature leaves a lot of room to do business in the gray areas and Charis was birthed to make a difference.  Our goal is to bring some light to those gray areas and to the industry.  At its heart Charis is a service company.  Our deepest desire is to serve our clients and our communities at the highest possible level of excellence.

Charis’ leadership team is expansive.  Each of our 5 offices has a tremendous Branch Manager with a great sales career backing them.  Additionally, our owners Christy Issler and Thomas Campbell have been in the industry for over 20 years each.  All in all, our Charis leadership team has over 70 years in the business.  We also have in house services for legal, tech, graphic design, home staging, and videography.  Charis knows how important it is to stay on the cutting edge.  The only way to truly take care of our clients is to stay at the front of the curve, and we’ve set up shop there!

Currently Charis has approximately 100 agents serving clients in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Virginia.  We have offices in Frederick, Cumberland and New Market Maryland as well as Martinsburg West Virginia and Bedford Pennsylvania.  Voted “Best of the Best” for Real Estate Company by the Frederick News Post for the sixth year running, in the last 5 years Charis served over 3000  families in real estate transactions ranging from $35,000 to over $4 million.  Every client received the same exceptional level of service and access to all the same resources.  That is who Charis is.

The sister organization to Charis Realty Group is our community outreach program.  That program is a non-profit called CHARISCARES.  CHARISCARES has served the community in a multitude of ways.  Just a few involve providing Christmas to families in need, stocking local food pantries, paying for final arrangements for families in trouble, supporting foster centers and animal rescue centers, providing disaster relief, coat drives, book drives, and so much more.  While CHARISCARES is the joy of our ownership team, at heart every agent is a piece of the story when it comes to serving whether that service is financial or if we have put some purple “boots on the ground”.

Charis’ core values were developed by a team of Charis agents early on in Charis’ story and they are something each agent holds dear.  Charis’ agents are truly special and really are bringing LIGHT to this industry.
